Revision as of 21:35, 4 July 2010Bengbu (Chinese: 蚌埠; pinyin: Bèngbù; Wade-Giles: P'engpu;; literally "Clam Wharf" or "Oyster Quay"; often incorrectly pronounced Bengfu or Bangbu; other spellings: P'engpu, or Peng-pu) is a prefecture-level city with a population of 3,469,700 (including rural area) in northern Anhui province, People's Republic of China.
Get inThe city is on the Jinghu Railway, with hourly direct trains to Beijing, Shanghai and other large cities. Get aroundTaxis start at ¥5 for 2.5KM, and ¥1.2 per KM after that. SeeDoBuyEatA local specialty is river crayfish cooked with lots of spices. There is a whole block near the center of town that consists mainly of restaurants serving this and other dishes.
