Bayamón is not a major touristic town. It's historical areas are located just in the city center and include only a few Spanish era buildings. However, it is a good place to experience the daily live of metropolitan area residents.

The official food of Bayamón is chicharrón: fried pork rinds. This has a historic origin from the time the city was the area to raise cows and pigs to supply meat for San Juan during Spanish colonial years.
Piragua is a local version of the sno-cone. It's a drink made in a cone shape paper cup, with cone-shaped ice (which gives it it's name, since it resembles a pyramid) and its sold in many different fruit flavors, including popular ones such as strawberry, pina colada, banana, coconut and others.
At downtown Bayamon, like in most Puerto Rican city's down-towns, tourists will find vendors (usually men) selling cold drinks on vans, and-or fresh oranges. The oranges are cut in place by the seller and are not expensive, usually for $0.50 or less. They are also a delicious way to get refreshed during the hot Puerto Rican days.
