RegionsCitiesOther destinationsUnderstandBairrada, situated between the urban centers of Agueda and Coimbra, stretches itself along 40km from North to South. This region is mainly constituted by vineyards of circumscriptions of Anadia, Cantanhede, Mealhada and Oliveira do Bairro. From East to West it starts in the base of Caramulo and Bucaco mountains and goes until the the Littoral sands of the Atlantic. The area of Bairrada is 108,000 ha. corresponding approximately 47% of the total area of the central region of Portugal. It presents a concentration of soils with agricultural potentialities (47%) much of the standard soils of the central region (19%). The vine occupies around 15,000 ha.
