Understand[edit]

Arraial d'Ajuda is a district of Porto Seguro, located in Bahia. The construction of buildings is prohibited by Heritage and houses can achieve only two floors. The Portugues Tomé de Sousa and first Jesuits discovered Brazil when they arrived here in 1549 with their three ships named: Conceição, Salvador, and Ajuda, who would be the names of the city and its first churches.
