Amiens

Amiens is the capital of the northern French region of Picardie. As well as its own attractions, the city makess a practical base from which to explore the area of the First World War's Western Front located nearby. Amiens' cathedral is one of the major works of the French Gothic style, with a fine facade and interesting sculptures. The Hortillonages, market gardens separated by small canals, are visitable by boat. (May not be open in winter).
