Akyaka is a village in the province of Mugla in Turkey. It lies on the coast of Gulf of Gökova, an indentation of Aegean Sea.

The town lies close to the highway connecting Mugla (north) and Marmaris (south). It's about a 20-25 min drive away from Marmaris.

You should pass by Akyaka Gözlemecisi in the center. If you are not a classical tourist looking for artificial touristique offers of the system, this place is for you. Backpackers, unique travellers, people who want to support the small runnings, be careful not to miss it. The family runs it and they offer you the products which they also eat in their house. All choices are made by the granny there with local products. Special cooked Turkish tea is only 1 lira and the gözlemes (Turkish style pancakes) are artound 4-5 liras. There is the famous weed (local green vegetable, spinach, vs.) gözleme and opposite to other places, they put the weeds inside the pancake without first cooking them, all fresh. It gives a special raw taste.
