Hey there. Just to let you know, I saw your email this morning before work, but I can't access my Gmail account from work here. I took care of Cincinatti on the Pt version. And with my Portuguese, well.. I studied on my own for about 4 months before going to Brazil the first time, can't say I was exactly conversational but I could speak some. Part of that was because I studied Spanish in university and the grammar is very similar. Anyway, spent 5 weeks there the first time, loved it, went home and studied a lot more and returned the following year for 3 months. And now I live in a city in Japan where I can speak it every day. Overall it's been about 5 and a half years that I've studied it. I don't know anything much about Polish or its relation to German, etc., but it sounds interesting. Good luck to you! When are you moving there? Texugo 07:36, 24. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

Stylistic differences

Are there any major stylistic differences between the German and English versions? I don't speak German, so I can only work on stylistic things and things like enforcing the rule of "no more than 9 cities" and removing improper links etc. Anything different here I should be aware of? Texugo 07:44, 24. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

Not really. We allow to external links, that's about the biggest difference that I can think of. I'm not sure there's a nine city rule on de:, but I've tried beating back the endless lists, but it's pretty fruitless.
Thanks for the info. I'm going in October, provided everything works out with the passports and visas. Also, if I may... could I request that you actually delete Cincinnati? I've been a real stickler for copyrights for the past couple of months and in theory those old versions are still copyvios. Which reminds me, not sure if this would be useful on pt: but I created Vorlage:Attributieren (Template:Attribute) which can be used to take contents from the other Wikitravels and allows you to easily attribute authors. -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 08:06, 24. Hi Sapphire,

do you know what are the flag-codes for Croatia (not HR), Portugal (not PT) and Hungary (not HU)? -- Túrelio 15:04, 25. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

Actually, I never finished the template. I'll add those three right now. -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 15:09, 25. Mai. 2007 (CEST)
Done. I've add those three countries, but you need to edit your user page and change the code for Croatia from "KR" to "HR". -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 15:38, 25. Mai. 2007 (CEST)
Many thanks, also for the idea of that "Where I've been"-paragraph. -- Túrelio 17:14, 25. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

Being the Flag-Master, do you know if there is a flag for the UK (code currently not UK, GB or VK) ? -- Túrelio 23:50, 26. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

It's now UK. -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 04:49, 27. Mai. 2007 (CEST)
Again thanks. -- Túrelio 12:09, 27. Mai. 2007 (CEST)

Corning (New York)

Hello, Sapphire. You helped my contribution with some stylistic hints. As you can think, I am new at Wikitravel and still in the process of getting an idea what the standard is. The Wikitravel help is quite helpful, but I am missing hints on articles that the Wikitravel community think are stylistically flawless so that they could serve as models. Could you give me some hints? --Stilfehler 17:10, 22. Jun. 2007 (CEST)

Don't bother, I figured it out. Thanks anyway. --Stilfehler 20:23, 22. Jun. 2007 (CEST)
Oh, ok. Sorry about the delayed response... I hit my head pretty hard, developed a concussion, and only did a little bit of editing. -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 07:40, 23. Jun. 2007 (CEST)
No reason to be sorry, I missed the section Ziel des Monats which actually meets my orientation needs pretty much. Get well soon! --Stilfehler 19:46, 25. Jun. 2007 (CEST)

deleting stuff

I am new as a user, but I am editing WT for quite a while. I wondered how things get deleted without a note these days. Why did you delete parts of the Wikitravel:Stammtisch instead of a comment?

--SonarTom 23:28, 1. Jul. 2007 (CEST)

Sorry, I should have commented but that posting was complete nonsense. I've been communicating with people from Internet Brands, the company that owns the Wikitravel name and domain, and I know for sure they wouldn't write that and the user was trying to be completely sarcastic. Yes, it may be censorship, however, I felt I should protect the project active recruitment to another wiki, rather than not. I believe I know who wrote the comments too and I think he simply wrote the comments so that they can be used to draw people, who would rather contribute to Wikitravel's viable international community, to another open content travel guide project. I won't get into specifics, but one thing that this user wrote gave away their identity away to me and I know that person does not have the best interests of this project at heart.
Wikitravel still operates on consensus, so if you feel I should not have deleted the comments, please by all means revert my edit or I'll do so, if you wish. -- Sapphire(Diskussion) • 23:58, 1. Jul. 2007 (CEST)
