Wikitravel:Liaisonrapporter/Dec 28, 2008
Progress in general[Redigera]
The progress is slow, but steady. I wish I could report a BOOM sometime, but it is apparent that Wikitravel in swedish is a rather low-intense site. However, we see it as perfectly OK as long as the contributions are good. Better few but good contribs rather than loads of contribs that turn out to be spam and vandalism!
Nov. 3, 2008 was the day when we could welcome our 500th registered user! As of today, there are 513 registered user names.
Focus since last report[Redigera]
There is so much to do to keep the site in order. On the janitorial agenda, we have been focusing on spam fighting, something we have seen coming in periodical attacks. When a new user arrives and starts off working on a certain guide, it is natural for us older users to have a look at what's going on, which usually results in us contribution to the guide in question too... and that is good! New blood means new energy, and we need it.
Focus during the next month[Redigera]
We plan to continue our work on swedish towns, mainly janitorial issues like geocoding, weblinks, etc etc.
There has to be a way to solve the MWI, message waiting indication. Today's red dot is not a very good thing, it simply does not attract as much as attention as is needed. May we suggest a Wikipedia-like solution?
Things are looking good. It is slow at times, but quality has its advantages to quantity. Well-manicured article templates with all the basics in will attract new contributors.
