RE:Image:Flag of Malta.svg[edit]

I'm not sure the issue you asked me...

As for my edit of the image page, we usually wrap up category in template on Wikitravel Shared instead of using [[Category:SOMEWHERE]] directly; {{Location|SOMEWHERE}} for image page, {{IsIn|SOMEWHERE}} for category page. I hope this is an answer to your question. -- Tatata 13:14, 25 August 2007 (EDT)

Sorry, my answer was beside the point. Though I don't know svg file very well, I'll try to write what I know. I'm using Firefox2, svg file isn't shown as an image like Wikipedia or Commons but shown as an icon on Wikitravel Shared, and I can see the image when I click the icon.
Recently, maybe past few weeks, the icon for svg file has gone. I guess this disappearance is related to following bug reports; Tech:DNS problem with files.wikitravel.org, Tech:Recent Changes Image Broken. -- Tatata 22:57, 25 August 2007 (EDT)
I know that svg files are using to show as images in Wikipedia articles. But I've never seen them in Wikitravel articles, though I don't know the precise reason. We usually export image from a svg file to a png file, upload both files and then we add png file to Wikitravel article. And, my guess, Wiki software may be configured in accordance with the Wikitravel's image formats written in image policy.
I think you are right, svg file is useless, in cases of images like flags or coats of arms which are not needed quality enlargement (higher resolution) and will not be updated by other editors in the future. So I upload a png file without a source svg file when I create a city locator like this. But in cases of images like maps or other diagrams with annotations of travel information (e.g. names of places, stations, restaurants, hotels, etc.) which are recommend to upload with source svg files for future editors to update or for editors who want to re-create in other language. As for mapmaking, you can find more information on en:Wikitravel:Mapmaking Expedition and en:Wikitravel:How to draw a map. -- Tatata 23:11, 26 August 2007 (EDT)

Maps from geoatlas.com[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for the images you've uploaded [1]. But I had to add them to Votes for deletion page, because I could not confirm whether they are really released into public domain or not [2].

Instead, can you use Image:IT Liguria Provinces.png for your article? Or please vote to keep the images within 14 days counting from the date of the deletion nomination, if you can prove them to be innocent. Thanks. -- Tatata 02:26, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
