If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Before uploading please take a second to read over the copyleft, policies and guidelines, and the image policy but feel free to upload travel images. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the Travellers' pub.

Uploading[edit]

Hey, since you've been doing a lot of uploading I wanted to ask you a favor. Before you add any information about an image in the "Summary" boxes would you please click in the Summary box, then scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the "Image Credit" template. This will automagically import the template into the Summary box. To use the template simply fill out all of the values. When you use the "Location=" value simply type in the the name of the place the image was taken, don't link to the page. Jani edited the template which reads the input and automagically turns what you type into a link and categorizes the image. Thanks. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 04:47, 10 January 2007 (EST)

I looked at the website that was cited as providing information about the copyright license that the image is licensed under and I'm under the impression that the image is not available in the public domain, as you noted, but rather is licensed under a different license that may be incompatible with our copyleft. Would you please double check the licenses of the images that you are uploading? This is mainly for two reasons 1. to protect the intellectual property owned by a person and 2. to prevent you from being liable for damages caused by a violation of the copyright. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 15:16, 10 January 2007 (EST)

Could be so, however the author states on his Wikipedia Talk page [1] that "They are also licenced under the Cc-by-sa-2.0-fr for ease of use -- the GPL or GFDL alone are not very practical as only licence for images, a Creative commons licence is advisable.". So, the license should probably be changed from PD to SA 2.0, don't know how to do that though. Jake73 07:57, 11 January 2007 (EST)
To change the licence, go to the image page, click on "edit" and, under the headline "Licensing" add the CC template: {{Template:Cc-by-sa-all}}. Good luck! Riggwelter 03:53, 15 January 2007 (EST)

Copyleft[edit]

Would you please read my comments here, think about the issue, then comment? It's fairly important and I'd like to get as many comments as possible. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 16:47, 5 February 2007 (EST)
