The change stipulating that the creator submitted the file is a major change in the content of this licensing template and renders it inaccurate for dozens of files that I have uploaded personally. The former wording allowed the template to apply to files that the uploader had created, or files that the uploader had found on another site, where the creator had formally released the file into the public domain. I think this change should be reverted, and possibly reverted as well on :en. --Peter ^Talk 02:14, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

Ok, per discussion at above link, this template shall remain around due to its current wide usage, but will not be applied to future images... please use Template:PD-self and Template:PD-author instead – cacahuate ^talk 22:21, 4 November 2007 (EST)
