The introductory text for the Recent changes pages on Shared, en:, and any OpenLogin set to English reads, "Below are the last 50 changes in the last last 7 days..."

It seems to be a general mistake in the MediaWiki version we're using, as a google search reveals the same mistake in many other wiki sites. --Peter ^Talk 21:17, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

Someone who knows where this text can be edited should fix it. It doesn't appear to be among the MediaWiki pages.

I fixed it on shared:. Please create MediaWiki:Rcnote (probably, it was deleted because of MediaWiki upgrade.) and remove unnecessary "last" from default text on en:. Incidentally, ja: doesn't have this typo. Maybe, it removed in translation work.

Does OpenLogin set thing mean using English user interface on other language versions? If so, I guess that it will be fixed when en: is fixed. -- Tatata 00:02, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

Yes, I mean OpenID login with the user interface set to English. I'm still getting the typo when using es: and I don't know where it's pulling that text from-- obvious MediaWiki:Rcnote on es: is the Spanish one and not the English. Also curious as to why MediaWiki:Rcnote doesn't show up in the list of MediaWiki pages under Special:All pages. Clearly the file exists but it doesn't show up. (How did you ever find that in the first place?) Texugo 02:05, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

Hmm, I wonder whether the OpenID problem might just be a cache problem, since I don't know where else it could possibly come from. The link to the RCnote MediaWiki file is most easily found by typing Special:Allmessages. The reason it doesn't show up in the Special:Allpages sort is that the default MediaWiki messages don't actually have pages; the pages are only created to sort of override the default messages (at least that's the way a fairly tech-illiterate like me understands it). --Peter 03:28, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

I am trying to fix ru:MediaWiki:Rcnote/en, but something else is wrong—all text between double braces is not showing up (e.g., {{PLURAL:$1|is '''1''' change|are the last '''$1''' changes}}), so that the rc text reads "Below in the last , as of $3." As we try to clean up the bug report backlog, I'd like to point out that this would be an extremely quick report to close—it just requires sysop-level access across the 8 language versions still afflicted by the typo. --Peter ^Talk 01:16, 21 March 2008 (EDT)
