Tech:Page names ending with a period confuse caching

From Wikitravel Shared

Moved from en:Wikitravel:Bug reports by Evan

What happens[edit]

If a page ends in a period is it a different page but pages with and without periods get confused when they are cached but not when Index.php is used. For example: Compare en:User:Mark. which has a following period and is not en:User:Mark even though the same page is displayed. The en:User:Mark page is actually here [1], not here [2].

The problem also applies to en:Main Page.[3], which is confused with en:Main Page and shows up as both an Orphan and Dead End page. -- Huttite 17:07, 8 Jan 2006 (EST)
