When creating an account with openID and the openID uesername is taken on wikitravel, it takes you to a page where it give you options on names and also a field to enter a different one. All of these options when submitted bring you to a failed search page for ChangeName: http://wikitravel.org/en/Special:OpenIDFinish/ChooseName

This bug and the other OpenID problem listed here are the same problem I'm experiencing. Can't we just log into Wikitravel using our standard Wikipedia login names? Anyway, if you need me to use Open ID, that I can do. However I get to the end of the process - this ChooseName page - and attempt to choose a username. Instead of accepting my username, it takes me to a search of Wikitravel for "ChooseName". Ridiculous! Can someone please fix this, or tell me how I can log in using my Wikipedia details if that's possible. my email is below. 30/11/08 ~~refractions~~

We aren't a Wikimedia project, so it's not possible to merge accounts from Wikipedia. I know this issue seems to be annoying a couple people with OpenID, I don't know why it works for some and not others... but why not just create an account here, I'm sure the same username you use at Wikipedia is probably avail here too... it's takes 10 seconds to sign up for an account :) – cacahuate ^talk 19:16, 30 October 2008 (EDT)
