Tech:No login indicator if JavaScript is turned off

What happens[edit]

If JavaScript is turned off in your browser, the "personal links" in the upper right-hand corner don't show your name and talk page. (This is because of our server-side caching -- everyone's reading the same HTML pages, slightly decorated on the client side by JavaScript.) We should probably have some text to this effect on Special:Userlogin. --Evan 22:23, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

When it happens[edit]

What should happen[edit]

My feeling is that this isn't important enough to include a note on Special:Userlogin (which, if we did, would be necessary on every language version). I'm moving this to the backburner for now, but if someone comes along a year from now and no one has spoken up on behalf of this bug report, they should simply close it and move it to category:fixed bug reports. --Peter Talk 01:53, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

How to fix it[edit]

I don't think we intend to fix this one. Adding text to Special:Userlogin is proposed, but I'm not terribly enthusiastic about that idea. --Peter Talk 01:53, 21 March 2008 (EDT)
