Tech:Message Waiting Indication does not work

What happens[edit]

Message Waiting Indication does not work on shared:. It is the same problem as ca:, ja: and sv:. -- Tatata 22:29, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

When it happens[edit]

Probably, it happens always when using IE6. And it seems that the mechanism for making red dot disappeared is working well when using IE6. This problem does not happen when using Firefox2. -- Tatata 22:29, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

What should happen[edit]

Notification should appear for IE users just like it does for FF users.

IE6 is gradually replacing by IE7, but IE6 has still TOP share at the end of June, 2007. -- Tatata 00:48, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

How to fix it[edit]

Probably, it is needed to modify function setup_user_name(userns, usertalkns, logout) in username.js. -- Tatata 22:29, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

Should be fixed now. KevinSours 19:13, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

Hello Kevin, thank you for the fix. I confirmed with IE6/Win and FF2/Win that it worked on en: and ja:. But I noticed that it worked unstably with IE6. Sometimes it didn't work, and then it worked after I moved to other page or reloaded the page. Unfortunately, I can't figure out the conditions when it works and when it doesn't work. And I don't know that further modification is needed or not. As for FF2, it worked well and wasn't affected by the fix. -- Tatata 23:40, 11 October 2007 (EDT)
It works fine on sv:. I suggest we leave the ticket open until Oct 21 and then close it. It should give enough time to see if everything works as intended on all affected versions. Riggwelter 15:16, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
