[edit] What happens

History for SVG files also seems to be badly messed up -- new versions are accepted, but only the original version is shown (see en:Image:Singapore.svg). Jpatokal 10:49, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)

Seems to apply to PNG files also. See eg [1] or [2] — I uploaded new versions of both today, and the image was replaced, but the history doesn't show either change. Jpatokal 06:15, 9 April 2006 (EDT)
For the SVG files, it's a caching issue; if you purge the cache for the Image: page (or edit and save), you'll see the image history correctly. For the png files, you're linking to the history of the Image: page, which hasn't been changes. The history of the image itself appears on the Image: page, and again, it's a cache issue. --Evan 07:19, 9 April 2006 (EDT)

[edit] How to fix it

Purging the cache will fix this on an ad hoc basis, but this really should not be necessary. And speaking as a user who maintains a lot of map files, which get regular updates—this caching problem is a real pain. --Peter Talk 02:19, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

Also, if this caching problem is ever resolved, we should formally close Tech:Image displayed incorrectly after size change. --Peter Talk 02:21, 21 March 2008 (EDT)
