Tech:Export/Import features errors
[edit] What happens
When you export a page it renders information in XML, but does not include a complete list of a page's authors. Also the import feature seems to work only when it wants to. As an example, I was able to upload de:Vorlage:IATA, but as I noted above it didn't include the latest version of the template and it only attributes Evan.
I tried to import en:Template:ICAO, but the feature didn't seem to want to work so DE is without the template. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 17:21, 14 December 2006 (EST)
- I use the Special page link so that I can obtain the full history since if you use the latest version only option it only attributes the last user to edit a page. Another bug. I then click the "view page source" button, which displays the same content in the Notebook program. I then click "Save as", then type in name.xml. The file saves as an xml file. Then I attempt to upload the file and all kinds of parsing errors get displayed! In the words of my dog - grrrrr. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 01:00, 26 January 2007 (EST)
These are the error's I've been seeing. I see about fifty lines of the first error message:
- Warning: xml_parse() [function.xml-parse]: Unable to call handler () in /var/www/wikitravel/mw/includes/SpecialImport.php on line 429
- Import fehlgeschlagen: XML import parse failure at line 144, col 1 (byte 8357; ""): Undeclared entity warning
[edit] When it happens
This thing never works and has caused me a hassle. Grrr. If I could properly import a page I could improve a whole bunch of articles on de:.
[edit] What should happen
The import feature should work error-free so that I or any admin can properly import articles.
[edit] How to fix it
Had the same problem. Using Firefox instead of IE6 to export/import the files solved the problem. Something in IE6 messes up the export.
