Tech:Diacritics
From Wikitravel Shared
Contents
[edit] What happens
thumbnails from a new image, with diacritics in the filename, fail to load.
The following message is displayed:
Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to open image `/var/www/wikitravel/upload/shared//6/65/Ostrava_Masarykovo_nmst.jpg': No such file or directory. convert: missing an image filename `/var/www/wikitravel/upload/shared//thumb/6/65/Ostrava_Masarykovo_nmst.jpg/180px-Ostrava_Masarykovo_nmst.jpg'
It looks like it ignores the non-standard letters when it is looking for a thumbnail.
- This problem is caused not just by diacritics, but by any "non-standard" character—that includes characters from other languages. --Peter 16:20, 10 June 2009 (EDT)
[edit] When it happens
when i try to use the image on a wikitravel page, or go to the category page on wikitravel shared.
[edit] What should happen
image should display correctly.
[edit] How to fix it
rename file to remove diacritics or fix bug.
[edit] Additional comments
I tried to rename the file but was unable to do so.
- Renaming images is not possible, please just upload it again under a new name. Jpatokal 10:12, 10 June 2009 (EDT)
- I have re-uploaded it, and the original has been speedy deleted. Thanks for your help. But of course the bug remains. Cloudz679 08:55, 13 June 2009 (EDT)
