Tech:Can only be logged into one language version at a time

Since the language versions were combined I have to re-log in every time I switch between english and french. -- Mark 09:52, 16 Feb 2005 (EST)
- I think merging accounts, so it's possible to use single one across all language versions would make sense... --JanSlupski 10:14, 16 Feb 2005 (EST)
- That would be fine, except that I have the same login in all of them, and it doesn't seem to work like that. -- Mark 10:22, 16 Feb 2005 (EST)
- Yeah... It was feature request ;) -- JanSlupski 10:45, 16 Feb 2005 (EST)
- This is really starting to cramp my style now that I switch back and forth between en and ja, and it's doubly annoying as it still says "Jpatokal blah blah" up to even when I've already been kicked out, and triply annoying as tinkering with your watchlist also gets you kicked out. Is there any way to do something about these? Jpatokal 21:50, 22 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- I don't know about the watchlist problem, but I do want to do something about the cookies. It's going to take some work, but I'd like to do it when I upgrade to 1.4.5 sometime early next week. I also have to experiment with layout. --Evan 22:23, 22 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- Hey! I've found a solution for this; the only thing which needs to change is the LocalSettings.php file for each of the language versions. According to this all we have to do is add a line like this:
ini_set("session.name", "{$wgSitename}Session" );
of course this has to be after $wgSitename is defined. Actually any text which is unique per language version will work. -- Mark 22:47, 24 Aug 2005 (EDT)
Has this problem been solved? --81.189.24.116 13:33, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)
- I can't even see if I am logged in: My user name is shown in the menu, however, when I sign a posting, my IP address will be inserted. --Roland2 13:39, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)
- I think this is fixed. It's going to be annoying in that everyone's going to have to re-login next time they hit the site, but besides that it's working OK, afaict. --Evan 13:56, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)
- It seems that something has changed within the last hours: When I click on "log out" now, I'll be logged out. When I did this hours before, I got the login page. Just now I changed the languages and I had ongoing access to both watchlists (English/German). I'll have to check that in detail ;-) Regards --Roland2 14:10, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)
- Yes, I just fixed it when I posted that message. --Evan 14:38, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)
