If I may chime in, Hi. I am soliciting for a seasoned WTer to help guide me through the process of sifting for the best next steps to improving the site. I am aware of Road Map and Top Bugs, but it looks like they are not frequently updated either. Any takers?--IBobi 13:40, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
- It's not a problem of the pages not being updated, it's a problem of them being ignored by IB, and of IB's unwillingness to let us do the job ourselves. The same bugs of yesteryear are the same ones that plague our site today. Image thumbnails still break on special characters, which signals that we don't care that much about people who use foreign languages; our enormous caching problems drive countless potential editors away, who can't figure out why their time-consuming edits do not show up after saving; the upgrade to the current version of MediaWiki is an obvious step for keeping our site up to date; and so on. --Peter Talk 15:35, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
- Indeed, I've stopped reporting new bugs, much less putting them on this page, because Top Bugs has seen one resolved bug since at least the beginning of 2009, and I believe all requests combined are averaging about one fix per year. That said, the remainder of existing bug reports are at Category:Open bug reports and Category:Open feature requests. There are certainly more, such as the site search, which has not updated its database in six months (e.g. this text has been in its article since Jan. 2, but still isn't indexed). -- D. - Caching I get, because I've fallen victim to it myself. And getting the newest Mediawiki is already in the pipeline though I don't have a date yet. And I will check out Category:Open bug reports and Category:Open feature requests if you think they still represent correctly prioritized lists.--IBobi 16:59, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
- Top Bugs is a great page addition; would someone be interested in putting a Top Feature Requests page together for voting? Or is the Road Map close enough?--IBobi 17:44, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
Date and deadline
Following the discussion here, I have added columns for date and deadline. The date column is the date when the ticket was added to Top bugs. The deadline column is for IB and should contain the date when the bug is to be fixed and ticket closed. Riggwelter 07:10, 15 July 2011 (EDT)
