From Wikitravel Shared

This page intends to organize efforts to make a Russian version of Wikitravel. The Russian version has not yet launched officially, but has been unlocked and serious work is being done on its namespace articles and the underlying structure of the guide. Discussion in English should continue here on the talk page, but is now occurring as well in Russian at the pub.

Russian (русский язык) is one of the most spoken languages in the World. For more info, see Wikipedia.

• Make a travel guide for Russians, citizens of ex-USSR republics and any other Russian speakers.

[edit] Go-between

This project needs someone to step forward to be the go-between for Russian. The go-between is responsible for keeping the Russian version of Wikitravel connected to the rest of the projects, by making a monthly report, translated bug reports and feature requests and news, and keeping up-to-date on what's happening with the rest of the site.

[edit] Interface file translation

The interface file for Russian needs to be matched to Wikitravel. References to Wikipedia should be changed to {{SITENAME}} and reference to the GFDL should be changed to the CC by-sa 1.0.

Expedition members can edit the file here: en:Wikitravel:LanguageRu.php. It may be worthwhile to compare here: en:Wikitravel:Language.php for the English version.

What's Media used for? Средства has quite narrow meaning.

Do we need hyphen in Медиа-Вики? It would be easier to type if we have the same МедиаВики style as in English (will pages with this prefix ever appear at :ru?). --DenisYurkin 10:35, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
