Tech:Forward slash in article name causes breakage
From Wikitravel Shared
(Redirected from Forward slash in article name causes breakage)
[edit] What happens
A user on English Wikitravel moved several articles to names containing forward slashes, and Mediawiki apparently choked hard on this. See for example en:Venice\Mestre, which will probably resolve as "VeniceMestre".
[edit] When it happens
All the live long day, at least as of the current version 1.8.2.
[edit] What should happen
The topic name should display with the forward slash, or else an error should be displayed indicating that the topic name is bogus.
[edit] How to fix it
Manually updating the edit/move/display URL seems to do the trick. In some cases using a double forward slash helps, in other cases more creative solutions are required.
