Hobart is the capital city of Tasmania. It has an approximate population of 130,000 and is situated in the south-east corner of the state on the River Derwent. It is Australia's second oldest city and was founded in 1804 by Colonel David Collins. It lies at the foot of Mt Wellington (1270m) and its harbour is the home for the famous Sydney-Hobart yacht race.
