Serengeti National Park [1] is a large conservation area located in the north of Tanzania. The park flows over into neighboring Kenya where it's known as the Masai Mara.

The park is but one of several conservation areas within the Serengeti region of East Africa, though a vitally important one. As well as conserving wildlife, flora and iconic landscapes, Serengeti National Park has emerged as a major traveller and tourist destination, many making the journey there to engage in safari. The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language, meaning 'endless plains'.

Sunrises and sunsets. Take a game drive either end of the day and enjoy the quiet beauty. Lions, elephants, wildebeest, zebra, cheetahs, leopard, giraffe, about twenty different types of antelope, hippos, monkeys, hyena, jackal,hyrax, foxes...they're all there if you stay more than a day or two. Birding is phenomenal. It's worth staying at a reputable camp and paying for the services of a competent driver and good guide.

Take photographs! A good zoom and a large memory card make the results so good you'll be looking at the photos months and months later. (Save them on high quality image and you can do amazing things with your photo program when you get home!) Eat fresh roasted cashews, drink watermelon juice, try the tiny sweet bananas.

• Kusini Camp. Offers a truly 'wild' experience to all its visitors. The area around Kusini Camp is visited by the Migration between the months of January and April but it should be noted that this is a grazing pattern and therefore experienced in the general area for this period. The season between January and March greets the arrival of newborn zebra and wildebeest calves. Accommodation is offered in nine double tents, each attended by a personal butler, which are scattered around the main Kopje. Each tent has en-suite facilities and hot running water.
