Een UNESCO Wereld Erfgoed gebied [1] is een gebied dat genomineerd is door de United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's internationale Wereld Erfgoed programma. Het programma heeft als doel om plekken op de wereld die van groot cultureel of natuurlijk belang voor het menselijk erfgoed zijn te inventariseren en te beschermen.
