The MediaWiki software used to run Wikitravel offers the capability to automatically generate sophisticated HTML using templates. Templates should be discussed before being created or modified. The list below shows templates that are currently available.

Notices are short fragments of standard text that should appear on relevant pages. Most reflect an article's status. A template is used so that a standard text appears on each relevant page. This saves typing. The following notices are currently available.

Questi avvisi vengono utilizzati per indicare article status:

{{Da cancellare}}	Indica che l'articolo è stato proposto per la sua cancellazione. L'avviso va aggiunto all'inizio dell'articolo.	Questa pagina (o "file" o "sezione di pagina" o semplice "inserzione" ) è stata proposta per la sua cancellazione da Wikitravel. Per favore, leggete le regole relative alla cancellazione in inglese o in francese. Se avete una qualche opinione in merito, potete riportarla nella pagina relativa. {{otheruses}}	Va usato nelle pagine che richiederebbero il chiarimento dell'ambiguità, ma che sono nella condizione del più famoso, come per Barcellona (che si riferirà alla citta' spagnola, e non a Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto). Deve essere posta all'inizio della pagina, e va aggiunta la pagina cui si fa riferimento.	Per altre località con lo stesso nome, vedi Barcellona (nota disambigua).

Informational notices provide warnings and disclaimers about hazards or other vital pieces of information that travelers should be alerted to.

Wiki Markup	Purpose	Template Display
{{disclaimerbox|disclaimer}}	A disclaimer is a sparingly-used message, normally containing editorial content about policy decisions. A disclaimer should generally be discussed prior to being added to an article.	Here Tibet is used as a synonym for the Tibetan Autonomous Region (T.A.R.) of China not the historic Tibet in existance prior to the Chinese take over. This is not a political statement. The strict restrictions on freedom of movement put on foreigners, sharply divides the T.A.R from ethnically Tibetan areas that form a geographic and cultural continuation of Tibet to the east of the T.A.R..
{{Attenzione|attenzione}}	Used to call out information that is vital to a traveler's safety, such as recent damage from a natural disaster, political instability, or some other serious condition. Warning boxes should be sparingly used and placed either at the top of an article or within the article section that is related to the warning.	ATTENZIONE: The effects of Hurricane Katrina severely damaged parts of New Orleans at the end of August, 2005, and it expected to take many months for the city to return to normality. As of Spring 2006, most services in the main travel centers (French Quarter, Central Business District, Garden District, and Faubourg Marigny) are back to normal; however, be prepared for contingencies if you're traveling outside the city center.

[Modifica sezione] Inserting Boilerplate Text

Wikitravel has a number of article templates that can be used to format articles. The following substitution texts can be used to quickly insert the article template into newly created articles. When the article is saved the shortcut is replaced with the text. This is a one-off substitution and can only be undone by deleting the inserted text - use with care.

• Country - Type {{subst:country}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Country article template text when saved.
• Region - Type {{subst:region}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Region article template text when saved.
• Small city - Type {{subst:smallcity}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Small city article template text when saved.
• Big city - Type {{subst:bigcity}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Big city article template text when saved.
• Huge city - Type {{subst:hugecity}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Huge city article template text when saved.
• District - Type {{subst:district}} into the edit box. - Expands into the District article template text when saved.
• Park - Type {{subst:park}} into the edit box. - Expands into the Park article template text when saved.
