Greek is the native language of the inhabitants of Zakinthos, but most people also speak decent English or other European languages.

There are buses that go between the most crowded areas of the island. Ask around and there will be no pain in finding the bus stops.
You can also rent a car or motorbike, just beware, the roads are a little dangerous for not experienced drivers and some areas are not well-lit after nightfall.

Visit the famous beach of Nauagio (Shipwreck), with its beautiful waters and the old sunken ship nowadays decorating the sandy beach.
In case you are interested in Greek modern history, visit the Dionysios Solomos museum, dedicated to the national poet of the Greeks, who wrote the nation's national anthem.
For the lovers of nature and animals, try to get information about the caretta-caretta turtles that reproduce around the area of Laganas, one of the island's most famous destinations. The turtles are protected by law and there should be a few places where you could learn more about them.
