Yozgat

Yozgat is one of the oldest center of population in Anatolia. After excavations have been done recently,some ancient traces from Hittite time were found in the different parts of the city. It is believed that Yozgat was one of the populated Hittite center during the reign of this state in Anatolia. Yozgat is called Bozok Sancak during the Ottoman period and hosted a big revolt called Celali by the one of the Turkmen leaders of the town at 15th century.

Yozgat is 200 kilometers from Ankara. It is easy to reach city from Ankara with dual lane highway. It takes about 2 hours by car. There are severals buses from Ankara bus station as well.

The city was settled between a deep valley surrounded with hills covered with pine forest. During the spiring and summer time, these areas become the places where the city population go to rest. It is population is about 80.000 and there is an university with lots of departments including medicine and law.
