See[edit][add listing]

  • Lu Wang's Tomb. Tomb of emperor Wan Li's Brother Lu Wang. This is nearly an exact duplicate of one of the Ming dynasty tombs located outside of Beijing. Close examination reveals a change in the dragon designs so that there are two instead of one in the stone working. Lu Wang desired to be the emperor so much tried copying much of the architecture found in Beijing at the time. Thirteen sets of animals line the entrance to the tomb, some mystical, and some real. There was some damage during the cultural revolution, and not all of the structure has been restored to its original state.  edit

Do[edit][add listing]

There is a nice park or two that have make for nice jogs. Also, in the city proper there are several smaller city parks that are interesting.

Look around downtown for a myriad of iron statues illustrating real and fictitious figures from China's past.

Shopping downtown is about the same as other Chinese cities. Be advised that since this area sees few foreigners, you may be asked to pay a larger amount than what locals pay. Haggling will fix this.

Buy[edit][add listing]

Xinxiang is a primarily agricultural area however there are some interesting things to purchase:

Tools: There is a large pneumatic tool factory in the city. Since the tools are air powered they should work just about anywhere you want.

Wooden furniture: Several small shops sell handmade wooden furniture in the area. The quality is questionable in some establishments so be sure to check it first. In general it's reasonable however, consider the shipping costs when bringing it back to your home country.
