Meetups

Moved from travellers' pub by Evan

So, Maj and I will be travelling to London and Cambridge this month to do research for a book we're working on, and we'd love to meet up with Wikitravellers in those towns while we're there. Thinking about this made me wonder if it's not a good idea to do general meetups for Wikitravellers, like on http://www.meetup.com/. I mean, how fun would it be to go to a regularly-scheduled Wikitravel meetup in Bangkok or Buenos Aires...?

I think maybe using the meetup.com interface is a fine way to organize the meetings, and they seem to have good karma, although I haven't done any of the meetups there yet. I wonder if anyone has an opinion about this? --Evan 14:37, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)

Hi, Great ! If you come to Geneva, I invite you for a cheese fondue. ;o) Yann 15:30, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)
That's a deal! By the way, we have two Wikitravellers I know of on Lac Leman -- Mark and Allegra both live in Lausanne. --Evan 15:57, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)
I'll meet anybody who comes to Frankfurt. No problem. I can also easily travel anyplace in Europe that has an international airport -- but even though I have plenty of vacation days left, my work has this tendency to ruin my travel plans whenever I make them. -- Nils 18:17 Feb 18th, 2004 CET
