[edit] Learning Objectives and Active Projects
I think this is a great idea for an expedition! A couple of thoughts about the active projects though. While the Education Expedition sets out the ideas for teachers using Wikitravel there does not seem to be any suggested way for those active projects to communicate their purpose and intent back to the other Wikitravelers. I suggest that each educator with an active education project on Wikitravel maintain a project page, which should be a user sub-page or even a page section that sets out the following:
- A brief description of the project and the course it is related to. (Say 1-2 paragraphs).
- The desired key learning objectives or primary educational outcomes. (e.g. Write an article colaboratively. Experience real world criticism and third party editing of a written article. Create linked hypertext articles. etc.)
- Whether registered or anonymous users will be active in the project, with a list of known users.
- An indication of the level of education, e.g. Primary/Secondary School, University, English as a second language, etc.
- Where users will be doing their editing. An article page, A user sub-page, creating new pages or editing the whole wiki! etc.
- The duration of the project, with specified dates for commencement, assessment and closure.
- The expected integration of the resulting product/content into Wikitravel.
- Level of interaction between students and other Wikitravelers.
- Contact person/user in case of problems.
I think this information is neeeded for both students and teachers to have a rewarding and positive experience with Wikitravel and so that other Wikitravelers understand what is going on and can react appropriately. -- Huttite 08:07, 18 Nov 2005 (EST)

[edit] Wikitravel in the classroom
Very interesting use of Wikitravel in the classroom here[1]. This bring up an interesting point, do we want to ask people contributing as part of a project/organized effort/etc to identify themselves and/or their project? Obviously there would be no way to inforce it, but I'm always curious when I see a lot of effort on a seemingly random page. Maj 16:31, 3 August 2006 (EDT)
