Wikitravel:Protected page guidelines
From Wikitravel
In general, every page should be able to be edited by any user. The guidelines for protecting pages are:
- Page protection should be a last resort.
- Pages should only be protected when it is absolutely necessary and there is no other solution that is less restrictive.
- All the solutions for handling unwanted edits should be tried first.
- Only in cases where none of these solutions are likely to be effective should a page be considered for protection.
- Even then, it should only be protected if it is highly undesirable to ever change the page.
- Pages proposed for protection should be discussed, preferably before they are protected.
