The Wikitravel Web site is owned by an American company called Internet Brands, Inc. (IB) which operates a number of consumer information sites. "Wikitravel" is a trademark of Internet Brands. Internet Brands also owns World66, another world-wide wiki travel guide with very similar goals and the same license as Wikitravel.
IB owns the wikitravel.org, .com and .net domains, as well as trademark and other rights for the name "Wikitravel". IB pays for the hardware and bandwidth for the site and receives the revenue from the advertising on Wikitravel.
