Tags and keywords[edit]

I've implemented a bit of coding hoohaw to jump-start the process of tagging destinations in Wikitravel. For now, destination tags (and other article tags) just show up in the <meta> keywords for an article. (This meta tag, which used to be used for some search engines back in the day, is ignored by almost everything now, although it's still recommended by the W3C for "good HTML style".)

Anyways, at the same time I added some code with some standard keywords, and different keywords by namespace. Each of our namespaces has its own set of keywords, and talk pages get some extra keywords. The "standard" keywords list is customizable by language, so admins for the other language versions of Wikitravel may want to go to Special:Allmessages and look for items labeled "keywords". --Evan 16:53, 7 Feb 2006 (EST)

How do tags work? How do they look like in the page source?

D'oh! Good question! I moved the experimental page about tagging to Wikitravel:Tags. --Evan 11:17, 21 March 2006 (EST)
