I've just read the Debian Weekly News, in which our dear friend User:Evan is mentioned as having become the Debian representative to the Creative Commons for the purposes of working out the issues between Free Software and the CC licenses.

Hmmmm... will this lead to the eventual inclusion of Wikitravel content in Debian. Bring it on I say! On the other hand the advertising clause may make that impossible. Still the by-SA license is the closest to being a Free Software type license of all of those suggested by the CC. Cheers to Evan for the good effort! -- Mark 17:48, 12 Apr 2005 (EDT)

Thanks. It's been a lot of hassle, but hopefully we'll be working out an agreement between CC and the Debian project to get CC licensed works into Debian. News is here: http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2005/15/ . I'm a Debian developer, so it's part of the job. B-) --Evan 17:52, 12 Apr 2005 (EDT)
