[edit] Wikitravel U.

User:Mark noted on 10 February 2005 that we've had a lot of anonymous users from high school networks lately. On the same note, checking the Webalizer statistics I noted a lot of referers from an online courseware site for Northern Arizona University. It's pretty clear that working on Wikitravel is an assignment for some students.

I'd like to figure out how to make this easier for teachers. I think it's a good idea. I guess I should start the Wikitravel:Education Expedition for teachers and students using Wikitravel. --Evan 11:23, 11 Feb 2005 (EST)

[edit] Clans

So, thinking about education, I noted that we don't really have a way to say User X is associated with group Y. Like, User:Fakename is part of such-and-such a class.

A lot of projects for getting people to work on things (like, say, SETI@Home) use a clan or group model as incentive. I wonder if that would work for Wikitravel: if we could track number of words changed per group.

I think associating users with groups would be about as easy as adding Category links to user home pages, but I don't know if it'd be a good idea. Ideas? Suggestions? --Evan 11:25, 11 Feb 2005 (EST)

[edit] Re-scheduled downtime

The downtime scheduled for 12 Feb has now been rescheduled for 13 Feb 2005 at 18:00 UTC (1PM EST). --Evan 19:53, 11 Feb 2005 (EST)
