Westfield [1] is a town and a northern suburb of Indianapolis in the Nine-County Region of Indiana.

Get in[edit]

While you can get close by plane, a car is a necessity to reach Westfield. There is no bus or train accessibility to Westfield; however, since it is close to Indianapolis you can see arrival options there too.

By car[edit]

Westfield is located east of Highway 31, which becomes Meridian Street in Indianapolis. It also is accessible by east/west Highway 32.

By plane[edit]

In addition to the Col. Weir Cook Indianapolis International Airport [2], located off of I-70 in Indianapolis, smaller planes can schedule a landing at one of two airports in Hamilton County and nearby Boone County, located just west of Hamilton County. Both offer aircraft charter, sales, rental, catering, flight school and more.

Underground Railroad, Quaker families, Anti-Slavery Friends, Businesses and Farmers, Orphan Train, Monon and Midland Railroads, 1861 Union High School and so much more. Admission: donations.   • Fallen Hoosiers Memorial [8] 401 N. Union Street. A memorial to honor the men and women from Indiana who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

At Westfield's annual 4th of July festival, the city celebrates the 4th of July in style with live music, a car show, food and marketplace vendors, a kids area, a beverage garden, and a fabulous Independence Day Fireworks Display!
  • Grand Junction Derby & Street Festival (October) Location: Downtown Westfield, Times: 3- 7 p.m., Contact: [www.westfield.in.gov/parks] P:317-804-3182 Join us in Downtown Westfield for the annual Grand Junction Derby! Gravity-powered, homemade derby cars race down Union Street and through downtown, alongside their crew members who help give them a push! Drivers are encouraged to wear costumes that go along with their car's theme, and teams will display their cars along "Gasoline Alley". There will even be decked-out tricycle races for the younger ones! Visit www.westfield.in.gov/parks for car building rules and race details. Bring the family out to enjoy the race as well for our after-race party featuring live music, food and beverages, yard games, kids activities, and more!

Outdoors [12][edit]

  • Asa Bales Park Hoover Street and US 32. Named after the man credited for naming Westfield. The park includes a skate park, two pavilions, a walking trail, and playground.
  • Chauncey Allen Park Smith Avenue near the State Veteran’s pool, 10 acre park and gardens. Students from Westfield Vocational High School help grow plants and flowers as an educational experience.
  • Monon Trail The rail trail in Westfield is a 2.9 mile regional trail directly connecting to Indianapolis on completed sections. Work will continue on the trail. The trailhead at 1155 E. Greyhound Pass includes parking, bike racks, benches, restrooms, and a drinking fountain.
  • Quaker Park 17501 Dartown Rd. Splash park, playground and picnic areas, basketball court, gardens, learning trail, grill, public restrooms, parking. This park is also dog friendly- including a dog drinking bowl!
  • Westfield Skateboard Facility at Amelia Park South Middle School off S. Broad St.
  • Cool Creek Park and Nature Center [13] 2000 East 151st Street. (317) 774-2500. This 90-acre park has four miles of trails great for jogging, hiking, and bike riding. Cool Creek Nature Center educates the importance of plants and animals in their natural habitat. Plus, Cool Creek Park hosts an annual Summer Concert Series. Additional events include Vintage Vehicle Expo and Haunted Trails.
  • Grand Park Westfield’s new 360-acre outdoor sports complex opened in 2014. Grand Park includes 26 baseball diamonds and 31 full-size soccer fields, as well as a 93,000 sq. ft. indoor facility. Grand Park Village is located close by, which includes shops, restaurants, and entertainment along a boardwalk.

Come visit the Underground Railroad walking tour in Westfield and learn about the only Indiana city that united together as one to help fugitives to escape.
