'Veerse Meer is in the Zeeland region of the Netherlands. It is an inlet that has now been closed off to the sea by a dyke. It is probably about 25km long and no more than 1 km at its maximum width which is towards the coast.
The area is ideal place for a cycling holiday because it is so flat, has an excellent network of cycle lanes and pathways. The area around is dotted with a number of very quaint villages and there are numerous caravan and camping parks.
The are numerous harbours filled with boats making this a very popular boating area.
At the Western end of the lake where it is separated from the sea, there is a nice beach on the seaward side which looks okay for swimming.
