[edit] Welcome
Hello!
Welcome to Wikitravel. If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to the whole wiki community look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to use the wiki markup. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. - Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 21:41, 25 June 2006 (EDT)
[edit] US & Detroit
Thanks for all of your work on Detroit, but due to the huge number of cities in the US a decision was made to limit the list of cities in the United States article to nine. If you edit the United States of America#Cities section you'll see a prominent note at the top of the section indicating that we really do want to limit the list to nine, and Talk:United States of America has a few discussions on this matter. It's not that we don't like Detroit, it's just that EVERYONE wants to see their city listed, and a line had to be drawn somewhere. If you disagree, as always feel free to discuss on Talk:United States of America. Thanks again for all of your work on Detroit! -- Ryan 20:58, 28 June 2006 (EDT)
As a side note, if you want to see Detroit displayed more prominently then it could be added to the Main Page under "North America". See Wikitravel:Main page guidelines for a discussion of how to add a new city on the main page. Short summary: add Detroit as the first city listed under "North America" and remove whatever is the last city listed. -- Ryan 21:00, 28 June 2006 (EDT)
- In a similar vein, any discussion about whether New Orleans has been "destroyed" and should be dropped from the list of cities for the US should probably first be discussed on Talk:United States of America. -- 17:22, 24 July 2006 (EDT)
[edit] St. Louis
I just upgraded St. Louis to guide, mostly due to your contributions. Great work there. Evan and I seem to pass through there at least once a year, so it's nice to have a good article developing. With a little more effort it could be a guide, or even a star. Thanks for all your work! Majnoona 22:49, 8 July 2006 (EDT)
- I think you mean "usable", Maj. Anyways, yes, great work! --Evan 22:51, 8 July 2006 (EDT)
[edit] New Orleans
"new orleans has been detroyed, half of its population will never return, it will be decades before it recovers." You know, people have said almost exactly the same thing about Detroit (except for the part about it recovering.) Just because you've written NOLA off doesn't mean everyone else has. -Todd VerBeek 17:27, 24 July 2006 (EDT)
[edit] thanks
Thankyou for the work on Detroit. edmontonenthusiast [ee] .T.A.L.K. 13:09, 23 December 2008 (EST).
[edit] Understand
Hey! I noticed in the Detroit districts, you added information on each other district. That is inappropriate for district articles. All of that stuff is to be explained in the main article. Same with other cities, like Windsor, that is listed in the Get out section in the main article. Does it make sense? edmontonenthusiast [ee] .T.A.L.K. 15:04, 23 December 2008 (EST).
