[edit] Welcome

Hello Jelse! Welcome to Wikitravel. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Thank you for all of your contributions and there are many over the past couple of days, Including added material, redirects and minor edits. I hope some of the links above will be useful. Your efforts are appreciated. Thanks and welcome to Wikitravel! -- Tom Holland (xltel) 09:30, 8 March 2006 (EST)

[edit] Hey Jelse

Where is this abandoned barn located in Sweden? Traveler2006 10:57, 28 March 2006 (EST)

No idea. Who took the photograph? If it's an unknown source, then it's most likely a copyright violation to put it on this site. Jelse 11:09, 28 March 2006 (EST)

It looks nice! Traveler2006 11:10, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Just because a picture 'looks nice' doesn't mean we have copyright on it. I saw that other people already commented on this, so let's stop the discussion here. Jelse 16:42, 28 March 2006 (EST)

[edit] Where this is all heading

Jelse, I'm sorry to hear that you're halting contributions. You've been a very valuable contributor. So, what circumstances would have you keep editing, and what circumstances would have you stop for good? --Evan 17:23, 23 April 2006 (EDT)

It's hard to say. Right now, I don't see a combination of Commercial venture/Ads and community/unbias content that would work for me. But, I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt and I'll be checking back here once in a while to see in what direction this is going. --Jelse 05:40, 24 April 2006 (EDT)
It seems that World66 has already implemented this the advertising and maybe that would be a place to get a good idea. The entire controversy means little to me, because I see the potential even if someone else is making a buck off of my work. It's almost the same thing as working at the restaurant I do work at. I get paid very little so Lone Star can make $6,000 off of my 5 hours of work. I make less than 0.6% of that ($ 7 an hour). The only difference between Wikitravel and working many times harder for $35 is that instead of making about 0.6% I'm making .6% less than I could be. Sapphire 05:42, 24 April 2006 (EDT)
I did check out their site and I didn't like it. I tried the 'Find accomodation' feature and I immediately started thinking 'who is writing this and for which purpose?'. Is it travellers, is it hotels, is it Google? Only the future can tell what will happen here. I don't want to start a discussion about your paycheck but if they make a profit of $6,000, your resturant should perhaps give you a raise. --Jelse 06:00, 24 April 2006 (EDT)
