Yes, My name is Jason Neave. I currently manage the youth hostel in Mt Cook Village for the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand, which is part of the International Youth Hostel Federation.[1]

Yes, I noticed that most of the edits I had put in had been removed from the page. Can you explain the rationale behind these changes ?

Jpatokal reverted your edits, but I'll explain a bit. Wikitravel has a policy to not tout. We believe that any "sleep" listing should be short and only mention a handful of things and be no more than two lines (and that's a stretch). We are not an advertising brochure. As he recommended, please read Wikitravel:Welcome, business owners. If every business did as you did, articles would be incredibly long and cluttered. Please don't take me as being rude, I'm sure you want to promote your hostel and we don't have a problem with listing it...it's just that we can't have excessive prose and touting. Phrases like "the perfect base" violate our fairness policy. Also, I should note that there is a "hotels" template at the bottom of the page (when editing) in blue...put information inside the quotation marks and any prose between the "><" before "</sleep>". From your first edit, I would recommend something like:

  • YHA Mt.Cook, (Corner of Bowen & Kitchener Drives), ☎ +64 3 435 1820, [2]. Can arrange for local activities; full kitchens/BBQ area; linens included. From $26/night, YHA members. From $29, non-YHA members..  edit

Information can be in list form not separate paragraphs like you had. I got the website url from the YHA-NZ website...if you provide a website, users will likely click it and see what all you have to offer. Information about what there is to do belong in the context of the article (as in the "see" and "do" sections). Since such info belongs in these sections, there is no need to put it in your hostel listing. Please share your knowledge of the area in appropriate articles. As Wikitravel continues to grow, more people will be exploring all the wonderful articles we have. If you make the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park article attractive enough, readers will want to visit and you could get more visitors. Again, I'm not trying to be rude, we just have policies on Wikitravel that keep things fair and reduce clutter. I hope you can understand. AHeneen 07:16, 9 December 2008 (EST)

Ok, seems fair enough, i'll follow your lead and make sure that the article is fair .. we'll work together to get an unbiased article.
