My name is Philip Barker. I live in the North East of England in Middlesbrough (in the United Kingdom - also known as Great Britain). My main contributions to Wikitravel relate to the North East and walking activities within this area. I enjoy taking out groups of people on guided walks - ranging in distance from 10 up to 18 miles in length. I plan the walks using my computer-based mapping system and then down-load the routes into my personal GPS navigator - this ensures that I rarely get lost!. I have a passion for maps - both electronic and paper-based. I read maps like many other people read books.
