Tuba City is in Northern Arizona.

[edit] Understand

Tuba City is the largest settlement on the Arizona side of the Navajo Nation. There is little to detain the traveler, but it makes a good refueling stop on the way from Monument Valley to the Grand Canyon.

[edit] Get in

Tuba City is on U.S. Route 160, about 100 miles north of Flagstaff.

[edit] Get around

[edit][add listing] See

  • Explore Navajo Interactive Museum, [1]. Scheduled to open in 2007.
  • See some of the most well preserved dinosaur tracks going West on your way out of Tuba City.

[edit][add listing] Do

[edit][add listing] Buy

  • Tuba Trading Post. Far and away the biggest shop in Tuba, this shop dates back to 1905 and has a wide, well-presented selection of souvenirs from the area, including authentic Indian crafts. Tucked away in the back is a small grocery store for the locals.

[edit][add listing] Eat

  • Hogan Restaurant, at the Quality Inn.
  • Kate's Cafe. Sandwiches, soups, burgers, salads and similar all-American fare (no Navajo food here). It's not much to get to excited about, but it's cheap and portions are big. $5-10.

[edit][add listing] Drink

As Tuba is located within the reservation, it's a dry town, with no alcohol available.

[edit][add listing] Sleep

  • Quality Inn Navajo Nation.
