It is necessary to cross Tronda to reach Burra
From Lerwick, take the main road A970 northbound. Take the left hand turn for the B9074 (signposted for Scalloway, Tronda and Burra). Follow the road along the East side of the voe (inlet) with Scalloway on your right. Cross the first bridge to Tronda (note that the bridge is single track).
There is little or no public transport.
Many beautiful views of the voes (inlets) from the road.
The Burland Croft Trail.
Bring your own picnic.
There are no pubs or bars on Tronda.
This is an extremely safe remote and rural area. It is quite customary for locals not even to lock their doors.
