Tra Vinh is a city in Southern Vietnam.

There are direct (mini)buses from HCMC. Another option is to arrive by boat. Eather private chartered or you can try to get on a cargo boat from for example Ben Tre.

The center itself is small enough to cover on foot, to explore the greater area you can rent a bike from the tourist office or via some hotels. Tourist office also sells a map (20.000VND, January 2012) which covers both the city and the province of Tra Vinh.

There is a nice and big market right in the center. The city also has some Khmer pagodas.

Explore the center on foot, or rent a bike to see the province of Tra Vinh. The beach side supposed to be one of the nicest in the Mekong Delta.

A place to rent motorbikes is located on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai 42B (about 5-10 minute walk from the center). The shop is called Nguyet. Price for a decent automatic is 200.000VND, manual is 100.000-150.000VND. (January 2012)

There are some affordable hotels in the center. Duy Tung Hotel has nice rooms for 200.000VND-270.000VND (January 2012).
