Tingri

Tingri, (Dingri) is a town in Xigatse Prefecture. Get in Mostly a military base disguised as a town, located on Friendship Hwy. Most groups traveling by Land Cruiser to/from the border with Nepal spend a night here. No public transportation available here. Several Tibetan inns are also available - Amdo Guesthouse, Dingri Sunshine Hotel, Himalaya Hotel, Lao Dengre Hotel, and Rong Sha Hotel. The best of the bunch are Amdo Guesthouse and Lao Dengre Hotel since they have very nice Tibetan teahouses with carpeted floors and low to the floor seating.
