I haven't set foot in Windsor since the dollar and dollarette were almost equal in value, so I'm wondering: how do most local merchants deal with Merkin money? I assume U.S. coins are still accepted at face value for convenience's sake, but what about bills? - Todd VerBeek 21:52, 3 February 2007 (EST)

A U.S. dollar is greedily viewed as a Canadian dollar. I was there in August '06 and that's how our currency was handled. Of course, they don't give you U.S. currency back, if you pay with U.S. currency. I think the tunnel bus may be the exception to the rule, but I'm not positive. If I remember correctly, they sign said $3.00 Canadian or $2.50 US. -- Andrew H. (Sapphire) 00:11, 4 February 2007 (EST)

American money, either bills or coins, will be accepted in almost all places. You will receive Canadian change back, usually at the current exchange rate. However, some businesses will have a fixed exchange rate which may differ from the actual rate.

Thanks for this info. This would be a helpful section in the main article.
