Talk:West Irian Jaya
From Wikitravel
As there are major questions about the legality of the creation of Irian Jaya Barat (even under Indonesian law, never mind what the Papuans think) and the borders of the putative province remain unclear, I don't think it serves the traveller to have this article. - Maybe. Might it serve the traveler better to go ahead and keep the article, but include some appropriate warningbox? I don't have a dog in this fight, nor do I know enough of the region to have an opinion as to what text to include, but intuitively that "feels" like the right path. -- Bill-on-the-Hill 12:35, 1 January 2007 (EST)
- Suggest the overall region (Western New Guinea AKA Irian Jaya) and the province / provinces (Papua / West Irian Jaya) it contains be merged into a single "all of New Guinea that belongs to Indonesia" region article - see Talk:Western New Guinea#Region name ~ 203.144.143.2 13:13, 1 January 2007 (EST)
