Do we have any info on when the Friendship Highway border crossing is open, or what the weather related disruptions can be. I read somewhere that there can be issues during the monsoon, with sections of the road sometimes washing out. (Though I have crossed it at that time of year w/o issues) What about winter? Is it (or the highway further into Tibet) ever closed due to snow? --keithonearth 12:59, 30 May 2010 (EDT)

The advice here on illegal tours went far beyond warning travelers about their safety. Without making any particular political comment regarding Tibet/China, I have removed it as per my understanding of http://wikitravel.org/en/Wikitravel:Illegal_activities_policy.
